KFS Services:



  • ASI/CSP- Aboriginal Services Innovations/Child Safety and Performance

  • Protective Family Support Program/Toolbox: Works to support families through coaching and education to reduce risk and prevent children coming into care.

  • Child Youth Support Needs (Child & Youth Care Worker): Empowers parents with the skills and knowledge needed to address the unique developmental requirements of children with special needs to so they can participate in the community and participate in a wide range of activities.

  • Aboriginal Family Group Circle: The Aboriginal Family Group Circle brings together all (extended) family members and support workers to create plans to keep children safe and address risks that may lead to a child coming into care.

  • Aboriginal Child Development Support: Provides one-on-one support to children with special needs so they can attend childcare, afterschool programs and other community activities.

  • Aboriginal Child Youth Mental Health: Supports one-on-one and group support to children and youth facing mental health challenges.

  • Aboriginal Wellness

  • Jordan’s Principal: Support worker provides assistance with each step of the application proves and helps with communication and follow-up.

The Purpose

Of the KFS Program is to provide support to our Children, Youth and their Families who are experiencing difficulties with parenting and who are potentially at risk of family or placement breakdown.

To Provide

Culturally relevant Support Services designed to improve and better inform Family Case planning, and, to further help reduce risk through more effective decision making.

Our Mandate:

To improve outcomes for St’át’imc and other Aboriginal children on and off-reserve by providing prevention and early intervention services and supports to either prevent or safely return them to the care of their parents.  Where this is not possible, to find temporary or permanent placements for them with relatives and/or community members that will be in their best interest.
