Under the Aboriginal Fisheries Strategy Agreement with the Fisheries & Oceans Canada (DFO), the Lillooet Tribal Council’s Fisheries Program:

  • Provides communication and information exchange between northern St’at’imc Leadership Councils, Communities and Fisheries and Oceans Canada
  • Promoting stewardship and enhancement of salmon for future generations
  • Reports to and receives direction from the Lilloot Tribal Council(LTC) Chiefs
  • Provides education to the youth of all ages about the salmon life cycle and habitats

  • St’at’imc Fisheries Forums
    • Providing updates on Sta’at’imc Fisheries projects
    • Feedback and ideas to and from community members
    • Pre/Post season salmon run updates
  • Coho in the Classroom
    • Education on the Salmon Circle of Life
    • Students are able to observe the beggining stages of the Salmon Circle of Life
    • Salmon dissection demonstrations
  • Annual Walking with the Smolts Event
    • In collaboration with: NNTC, DFO, Splitrock Environmental
    • Promotes youth stewardship and celebration of Salmon and ecosystems
  • A St’at’imc member is the Data Entry Clerk.
    • They input the data regarding fish numbers at the DFO office
  • Attends Fisheries Meetings that happen all year round:
    • Fraser Salmon Management Council
    • Pacific Salmon Commission/Fraser River Panel
