MMIWG2S Walk on Main Street – May 5th, 2023

Here are some photos and videos from last Friday when a collective group joined together to walk down Main Street, Lillooet BC, to remember and honor the MMIWG2S.

Facts about the MMIW:

Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC): https://nwac.ca/assets-knowledge-centre/Fact-Sheet-MMIWG-1.pdf

Government of Canada: https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/rp-pr/jr/jf-pf/2017/july04.html

Assembly of First Nations: https://www.afn.ca/policy-sectors/mmiwg-end-violence/

These are all sources from accredited websites and we are providing them to help raise awareness to the rising issue of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women in Canada.

At the event, SOHS’s Land Based Healing Program handed out 100 shirts from Decolonial Clothing from their No More Stolen Sister line: https://decolonialclothing.com/collections/no-more-stolen-sisters

This design symbolizes our united stand, and embodies the strength and resilience of the MMIWG2ST+ community, while raising awareness and supporting the fight for justice.
